Samoan Language Week-Taputapu Gagana (The Silence Game)

Room One played a traditional Samoan game called Taputapu Gagana (The Silence Game) for Samoan Language Week today.

It involves making funny faces at the other team to make them laugh...if anyone makes a noise they are out.

The losers had to do a silly dance and make funny faces to be put up on the blog....here they are!!!

Awesome Alliteration Publishing!

Room One's writers  published some fantastic poetry last week...showing off their amazing alliteration abilities!

They created 10 wacky and alliterative ice cream flavours that they would sell in their ice cream store...inspired by the poem Bleezer's Ice Cream Store by Jack Petrulsky.

Here are their efforts (all cleverly in the shape of I for ice cream!)

To give you an idea of their quality....here is Merehana's poem:

There are lots of other fantastic poems by your tamariki-come and visit us in Room One to check them out!

Room One-respecting their learning environment like the responsible citizens they are!!!

Room One are proud to announce that our school cleaners from Crest Clean have voted us the cleanest classroom for Week 2 of Term 2!

We pride ourselves on respecting our learning environment, and each have weekly jobs that we are responsible for completing to ensure the class stays neat and tidy.

Well done to my tremendously tidy tamariki!

Wet lunch: Games time in Room One!

We were actually happy that the weather was grey and grim today!

Room One would like to thank one of our wonderful parents/caregivers Chrissy Leggott, who kindly donated loads of awesome games and puzzles to our learners.

Here we are...enjoying them!

Thank you Chrissy!!!!!

We studied the poem Bleezer's Ice Cream by Jack Prelutsky, which is full of fun and fancy fantastic alliterations!!!

Our budding poets followed up by creating their own weird, wacky and wonderful flavours...check them out!!!
