Maths Evening at Rangikura School
Kia Ora,
Thank you to all who made it out to the Rangikura maths evening last week. It was fantastic to hear all the "maths talk" going around. If you missed it here are some photos of the Room 1 Perimeter City. We all had a great time working in this project.

Learning more about our Tinana (bodies)
Kia Ora,
This term we have been learning more about our tinana (bodies). We have been learning about the human skeletal system and as part of our learning we built these skeletons. It was such a fun activity and we thought it was like building a huge puzzle. Please come and have a look at our skeletons - we would love to tell you more about our learning.

The Kahurangi Dance Group
We just loved the Kahurangi Dance Group Performance yesterday! They were awesome! We were blown away by the stories they shared through song and dance. We did a shared writing activity afterwards where we all shared our knowledge and Ms. V wrote down our ideas. Here are some photos of the show.
Room 1 enjoying the brand new Rangikura Library
Today we had our first visit to the brand new Rangikura Library and we loved it! The library looks fantastic and we really enjoyed sitting on the comfy cushions and seats reading our books. Whaea Pip showed us around and explained to us where all the books were and what books we could have a read from. We can't wait to go back to the library next week!

An afternoon with our Buddy Class
Kia Ora and welcome back to a new term! We spent our afternoon working with our Senior buddy class in Room 12. Our task was to create a menu for a 'tuck shop' we had to think of some healthy food choices and also how much items would cost. Our big buddies really liked some of the ideas we came up with and they thought it would be awesome to have some of those items in a tuck shop. Our buddies also read to us and we really enjoyed listening to the stories they shared. We are so lucky here at Rangikura School to have Seniors who love spending time with us Juniors - we can learn a lot from them and they can learn a lot from us!

Learning from each other in Room 1.
In Room 1 we love to help each other and one way we do this is by reading with each other. Reading with a buddy is a lot of fun and it is a chance to learn from each other. We just love reading in Room 1 because we know that the more we read the more we learn and that is just awesome! If you would like to hear some great reading pop into Room 1 and we will be happy to share our fantastic reading with you.

Squiggle writing in Room 1
I feel very lucky because in Room 1 there are a lot of fantastic writers. They love writing interesting stories and I would like to share a few of them with you. This week we wrote Squiggle stories and they start with, well a squiggle! The squiggle can be turned into ANYTHING you can think of! This is a great activity to be creative and to create a story based on something you've drawn. Enjoy!

Swimming season is here!
Kia Ora parents and caregivers,
On Monday we will be heading down to the Cannon's Creek pools for swimming lessons. Please ensure that your child has a named plastic bag with togs and a towel. Also, I am still waiting on a few permission slips - it would be great if you could send those to school tomorrow.
Any questions, please ask.
Regards,
Ms. V

Fun In The Sun!
The sun decided to pay Rangikura School a visit today so we just had to get outside for a play. We had a great time playing 'Duck Duck Goose'. For some of us this was a new game to learn and it was great to see everyone working together and helping each other. We hope the sun comes back tomorrow. Please feel free to leave us a comment - we love reading them.

Whanau picnic at the Waikanae Pools!
We have been hoping for sunny weather for our trip to the pools - and we sure got it! It was a fun-filled day and it was such a treat to see so many whanau attend the picnic. The hydro-slide was a firm favourite and it was clear that all the kids absolutely loved going down it and landing in the pool. We were sad to leave but we'll treasure the memories we made.
