Champion Swimmers!

What a great day to go to the pools for swimming lessons! Room 1 were fantastic - they listened to their instructors and it was clear everyone really enjoyed themselves (while learning of course!) Here are just a few photos from today but keep an eye out - I'll be posting more as we go along.

Swimming season is here!

Kia Ora parents and caregivers,

On Monday we will be heading down to the Cannon's Creek pools for swimming lessons.  Please ensure that your child has a named plastic bag with togs and a towel.  Also, I am still waiting on a few permission slips - it would be great if you could send those to school tomorrow.

Any questions, please ask.

Regards,
Ms. V

Ms. Holland Came To Visit Room 1

Easy Blog Photo
This week we were so lucky to have Ms. Holland come to room 1 to share some stories with us. She even took us on a Bear Hunt and we got such a fright at the end of the story when we found the bear. We hope Ms. Holland will come to visit us again soon.

Fun In The Sun!

Easy Blog Photo
The sun decided to pay Rangikura School a visit today so we just had to get outside for a play. We had a great time playing 'Duck Duck Goose'. For some of us this was a new game to learn and it was great to see everyone working together and helping each other. We hope the sun comes back tomorrow. Please feel free to leave us a comment - we love reading them.

Whanau picnic at the Waikanae Pools!

We have been hoping for sunny weather for our trip to the pools - and we sure got it! It was a fun-filled day and it was such a treat to see so many whanau attend the picnic.  The hydro-slide was a firm favourite and it was clear that all the kids absolutely loved going down it and landing in the pool.  We were sad to leave but we'll treasure the memories we made.

Dear Santa...

Ruma Tahi spent their morning doing some persuasive (but creative) writing to Santa...who despite what Taylah says is not Mr. Roberts with his greying beard!

Our tamariki have to persuade Santa to give them 3 kooky, creative presents by telling him how they have been good and telling Santa what's in it for him!!! (e.g. "I will use my Taniwha to help Santa deliver presents"-Lameko).

There were some hilarious arguments made....more posts to follow...

Tuakana/Teina in Ruma Tahi!

When using Tuakana/Teina a more expert tuakana helps and guides a younger or less expert teina . In the Ruma Thai learning environment,  the tuakana–teina roles may be reversed at any time, as we all have our special talents.

Here our Mathematics Tuakana are guiding their Teina towards rounding amounts of money to the nearest dollar to make shopping easier! Tuakana get to explain their strategies to their peers, reinforcing their learning, and Teina get awesome insights from their buddies!
